megan's teaching philosophy

I am committed to being an engaged and active instructor. In all of my classes I strive to create a solid foundation of both technical and conceptual knowledge, and build on that. I aim to provide honest, pertinent, and constructive criticism to students.

In addition, I believe maintaining my professional practice as an artist is essential in order to provide students with the most timely and relevant expertise in the field; and clearly orienting students to my teaching style and my goals for them sets the stage for a positive learning experience from the first day.

I particularly enjoy working with diverse groups of students as that diversity (whether race, age, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic background) enriches the educational environment by bringing a variety of life experiences and philosophies to the classroom.

I teach because I love to teach, and because I find it rewarding. I enjoy seeing students grow and excel beyond what they thought was possible.
